Biography

Born in 1545 John Cutts was the eldest son of Sir John Cutts of Childerley and Horham Hall n Essex ^[1]and his wife, Margaret Hynde, daughter of (Sir) John Hynde Hyndet of Madingley in Cambridgeshire. ^[2] He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge 1561 and at Gray's Inn 1565. ^[1][2]

His first wife was Anne Darcy, daughter of Sir Arthur Darcy of Huntingdonshire by whom he had a son and 2 daughters. ^[2]

John's second wife was Margaret Brocket daughter and co-heiress of John Brocket of Brocket Hall, ^[3] Hertfordshire by whom he had another son.^[2] He succeeded his father in 1556. ^[2] John was knighted by the Earl of Leicester in 1571.^[4]

John was first returned to Parliament as member for Cambridgeshire in 1584. ^[2]

He died before the 29th of April 1615 when administration of his estate was granted to his son, John. ^[2]
