Andrew was taken POW in the Civil War and transported to Camp Douglas Illinois where he died as did one of his brothers Johiel Calvin Dalton and a cousin William Fletcher Halford. Many more southern boys died in this prison camp which has the name of 80 acres of Hell, as a TV documentary about Camp Douglas Illinois called it.
