Biography

The 1850 census of Pittsylvania, Virginia shows Henry in the home of parents Samuel and Catharine Dalton. Parents were wed in Pittsylvania, and father was shown as head of house in Pittsylvania in 1840. Those sources attached to father Samuel.

Henry married Elizabeth Saunders in 1852, and the 1860 census of northern Pittsylvania would show the couple with their first two children, Henry 1857, and Samuel 1860. The 1850 and 1860 records both estimate Henry's birth as 1829.

For the possibility of service in the Civil War, their are records of a Henry Dalton in the 18th Virginia Infantry, Co A, and another for 57th Virginia Infantry, Co D, both of which were supplied by Pittsylvania Virginia manpower. --
