Biography

John was born in North Carolina in 1837. He was the son of William Dalton and Mary Polly Jones. He worked as a merchant in Rockingham County, North Carolina. On 11 Mar 1862 John enlisted as Sergeant in the 45th Regiment, North Carolina Infantry, Co. D. He died from typhoid fever near Petersburg, Virginia in August 1862 at age 25.
