Biography

Talitha Daniels was born 30 October 1889 in Wayne County, West Virginia the daughter of Hiram Daniels and Mary Alice Christian. Sometimes her name has been improperly indexed in records as "Tabitha". This is the result of poor interpretation of old handwriting. ^[1]Examining the original records shows the name was Talitha.^[2][3] Her unusual given name, Talitha, comes from an Aramaic word for "little girl" found in the Bible in the book of Mark. [2] The name was popular in the Harrison Daniels family because he had two grand-daughters named Talitha. Talitha Daniels (born 1889) was the first one given the name and her first cousin Talitha Hinds (born 1896), daughter of Elias Hinds and Martha Daniels, was the second one.

Talitha Daniels was listed living in Normal, Boyd County, Kentucky in the 1908 Ashland City Directory. Other members of the Daniels family shown in the same directory living at Normal, in the Ashland area were: Carrie, Flora, Jessie, Thomas J (wife Inice), and Wm H (wife Sarah).^[4] Whether they were related to Talitha or it is simply a coincidence they all resided in Normal, KY is not known.

Talitha Daniels was age 21, when she married Jesse Ball, age 25 the son of Sam Ball and Sarah Barnett on the 17 December 1909 in Boyd County, Kentucky. ^[5] Talitha's father's name on the marriage record is incorrect because it is listed as Thos. Daniels but should be Hiram Daniels

In 1910 Talitha and Jesse Ball resided in the Boggs Addition, Boyd County, Kentucky. Living next door was the household of Sarah Ball (age 45, born KY) the mother of Jesse Ball.^[6]

Talitha Ball, (daughter of Hiram Daniels and Alice Christian) was divorced, age 39, when she married second on 5 July 1932 Sonny Johnson who was also divorced, age 38, the son of Chas. Johnson and Polly Stafford. The marriage was performed by J.S. Gannon, J.P. ^[7]

Talitha Johnson died 1934. ^[8][9]
