Biography

Betty M Daniels was born 1923 in Greenup County, Kentucky. Her birth record lists her mother as Nancy Akers.[1]

Bessie was 6 years old and resided with her parents on Wolf Pen Road in Greenup Co., KY in the 1930 census. Living next door on one side was the family of her uncle Elba Daniels and on the other her grandfather Henry Daniels.[2]

Bessie (age 21) married Jack A. Taynor (age 19) the son of Austin G. Taynor and Thelma Gray, on 23 July 1944 in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio. [3] They were divorced in 1967.[4]

They had one daughter Sharon Ann Taynor.

She married second Charles Miller on 22 September 1967 in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio.

Obituary January 16, 2011 Betty M. Miller Schoedinger North Chapel The Independent. COLUMBUS, OH — Betty M. Miller, 87, of Kenmore in Columbus, Ohio, born Bessie Mae Daniels in Flatwoods, Ky., passed away Friday, Jan. 14, 2011.

Betty gave generously of her time to help and care for other people all her life. She spent many years as a cake decorator of high reputation. Photographs of her cakes graced the pages of many catalogs. Betty attended church services in Columbus, Ohio, at Maize Road Baptist Church and was strong in her faith. She was a brave and strong-willed woman who never let anything slow her down. Betty liked and loved every single person she met and will be sorely missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Nancy Daniels; a sister, Jewel Faye Kamer; a brother, Karl Edward Daniels; a sister-in-law, Geneva “Tiny” Daniels; her adored poodles, Buttons and Mitzy; and her beloved husband, Charles Miller.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Charles Langdon; brothers and sisters-in-law Frank and Thelma, Herbert and Janice, Hearld and Burt and Bob Daniels. She is also survived by her only child, Sharon Winks; grandchildren Guy and Leslie Winks, Jeremy and Sarah Winks and Jason and Scott Winks; great-grandchildren Corey, Madelynn, Ronie, Logan, Tristan, Nicholas and Sean Winks, Will and Charlee Winks and Tyler and Gracie Sturgill; a nephew and niece-in-law, Rick and Debbie Kamer; a great nephew and great niece, Rick Jason Kamer and Jewel Kamer, along with their mother Vicki; as well as her beloved dog, Zorie.

Family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at Schoedinger North Chapel, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, OH 43229, where services will begin at 1 p.m. with pastors Brett Castle and Shawn Hensley officiating.

Interment will be in Northlawn Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Maize Road Baptist Church, 4251 Maize Road, Columbus, OH 43224.
