Biography

Christiana Davis died young.

Christiana Davis was born in Numba, NSW, on 8 April 1878, and baptised on 26 May 1878.^[1][2] She was the daughter of James Augustus Davis and Carolena Sophia Reutter.

She died on 26 February 1979 from 'incipient croup' aged 10 months.^[3][4] and was buried with her brother Henry James Davis (1875-1879) and later her parents in the Nowra Cemetery.^[5]

Another sister named Christiana was born in January the following year.

We regret recording the deaths of two children, members of the family of Mr. James Davis, of Numba. The oldest, a fine boy four years of ago, met his death from chronic bronchitis : and the other; an endearing infant of ten months, was carried off by an attack of incipient croup. All that parental care and medical skill could devise was done to alleviate the sufferings of the infants, but both died almost together — one on the 25th, and the other on the 26th. ultimo.
