Jerusha Daynes was born on 20 Jan 1740 in Norwich, New London, Connecticut, daughter of James Dains (1716 - 1779) and Elizabeth (Rood) Daynes (1716 - ?).

Jerusha Deans was born to parents James Daynes Elizabeth Rood on 20 January 1738/9. The Norwich record for her birth spells the surname "Deans"; for her siblings it was spelled "Deans" or "Deens."[1]
