New information and research confirms that the Emaline b. abt 1867 in the 1870 census is the same as Rebecca E. Derossett aka Beckie E. Derrossett age 13 servant In 1880 Tharp household.
Married 1st: 16 August 1883 in Springfield, Greene Co, MO to G. W. Brockus with consent of her mother, Elizabeth Derossett.
NOTE: 1900 census states she has been married 18 years (est 1882) and is the mother of three children; three living. 1910 Census image shows she has been married 26 years (est 1884); mother of three children; three living. Marriage licesnse shows date of marriage as 1887. The earlier marriage dates would have probably required her mother's consent.
Mrs. Rebecca Gray, 71, a resident of the Rosedale district of Kansas City, Kansas forty years, died yesterday at her home, 2147 Esterly avenue. She is survived by two sons, A. C> Gray, 1221 East Tenth street, and Kirk Gray, 3600 Monroe avenue, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Funkhouser, 435 Esterly avenue. Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday at the Gates chapel; burial in Maple Hill cemetery. [The KC Times_MO_1937 01 20 p 6]
