Biography

DOD computed from DOD and age on headstone. One son ID'ed, possibly by a surrogate mother (Honeyman & McDaniel 1998).

Daniel "was a farmer in Newton Twp [Miami OH] ... [He and wife Kate] provided a home for many ophaned relatives and neighbors. It is said that Kate was barren and at her request David fathered a son by a hired girl." (ibid)

Burial: Sugar Grove Cemetery, Covington, Miami County, Ohio, USA Memorial ID 26401437

Inscription "age 87-7-1" but memorial gives DOB 10 Apr 1806

There are four headstones in Sugar Grove Cemetery, identified as children of Daniel & Catharine or D&C, but evidently foster children:

Benjamin Deeter d 3 Jan 1852, age 18y-10m-14d, s/o D & C
Christina Deeter d 20 Feb 1858, age 15-6-9, d/o Daniel & Catharine
Susan Deeter d 29 Dec 1857, age 17y-8m-23d , d/o Daniel & Catharin
Malinda Deeter d 30 Apr 1865, age 18 yr 14 da, d/o D & C
