Biography

Blaine Humboldt Deeter was born on November 24, 1884, in Columbia City, Indiana. He was the son of Benjamin Deeter and Katheryn Latimore. He married Alice Connors on June 3, 1909, in Cass County, Indiana. They had six children during their marriage. He died on March 27, 1938, in Logansport, Indiana, at the age of 53, and was buried there.

Blaine H. Deeter, 53, R. R. 5, a blacksmith, passed away at Cass county hospital Sunday night at 10:30 o’clock following an illness of several months.

Mr. Deeter for years operated a blacksmith shop on Fifth street, west of Market street, later moving the shop to Third street next to Eel river.

The deceased is survived by the widow, Mrs. Alice Deeter; four sons, Frederick, Wilbur, Walter and Raymond, all of R. R. 5; a daughter, Mrs. Erma Basham, of Logansport; two grandchildren; three brothers, Benjamin, of Michigan; Walter, of Fort Wayne; Raymond, of Florida; a half-brother, W. A Knott, of Columbia City; and two half-sisters, Mrs. Irma Woods, Chicago, and Mrs. T. Revis, of Bluffton.

Funeral rites will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the residence at the edge of Adamsboro. Rev. Harry Rea officiating. The services will be under the auspices of Tipton lodge, F. and A.M. No 33. Interment will be made in Mt. Hope cemetery.
