Pauline's father was Martin Degner and Adolph's mother was Martin Degner's sister. (note by Judi Oehler: died in Germany Skoks Shekken) Martin promised Pauline to Emil (Adolph's brother) but Pauline hated Emil, so got pregnant by Adolph and married him, so Emil always hated Adolph after that.
Adolph's mother was abused by father. One night washed self, put on clean clothes, went to bed, and was found dead the next morning.
