Lucy and her twin brother Lewis were born on September 23, 1878, in Carroll County, Virginia to Peter Delp and Parthena Angeline (Montgomery) Delp.[1] She spent her childhood living in Sulphur Springs with her family.[2] Lucy contracted dysentery at the tender age of 8 and died as a result on June 1, 1887.[3] She was buried in Nige Lineberry Cemetery.[4]
