Biography

Birth

Katharina was born on May 18, 1889 in the village of Johannestal in the Beresan district of the Odessa area and Black Sea region of South Russia to Andreas Delzer and Rosina (Lutz) Delzer. She was the third of their 6 children.[1][2]


Immigration

On June 11, 1889, at the age of 22, Katharina and her parents, along with 2 siblings, arrived in Baltimore, MD aboard the S.S. Cassel traveling from Bremen, Germany.[3]


Family

On March 8, 1913, at the age of 23, Katharine married John Retzlaff (1890-1970) in Tappen, ND.[4]

Children:
  1. Roland (1914-1916): Died at the age of 2
  2. Anton (1921-1977): Married Agnes Rau (1925-1986), 1 child.


Death

On August 27, 1962, at the age of 73, Katharine passed away in McIntosh County, ND. She is buried in Napoleon Cemetery.[1][2]
