Biography

Sarah Denison was born about 1660, the daughter of John and Pricilla Denison of Ipswitch MA. She married Tobijah Perkins on 5 November 1680, "with the consent of both their parents" at the home of Major General Dennison[1]. They had five children recorded at Topsfield, Essex, Massachusetts between 1689 and 1697, though there may have been older unrecorded children as there is a large gap between their marriage and when they began to have children. Tobijah died on 30 Oct 1723. Sarah is mentioned in his will and seems to have out lived him[2] . Toppsfield records mention two widows name Sarah Perkins who died on Oct. 1, 1735 and Dec. 5, 1737, either could be the wife of Tobijah. Children with Tobijah Perkins:

Research Note

Previously two different Sarahs were conflated. There was a Sarah Dennison, who married Tobijah Perkins on 5 Nov 1680, "with the consent of both their parents" at the house of Major General Dennison. They had five children recorded between 1689 and 1697. There was also a Sarah, wife of Thomas Robinson, who had five children recorded between 1677 and 1689. Thomas Robinson died in 1700 and his wife survived him. His will also mentioned a brother in law William Denison. Because of a 1701 deed where the daughter of Edward Denison is identified as "Sarah Robinson", Sarah wife of Thomas is also the daughter of Edward and the profiles have been separated.

Sarah, wife of Tobijah was the daughter of John and Pricilla Denison, of Ipswtich MA, evidenced by the fact that he is mention in John Denison's will[3]. The fact that her marriage was at "Major General Dension"'s house implies that they were related, but how exactly is not known. At least one book lists the wife of Tobijah as daughter of John Denson and Martha Symmonds, but based on the autobiography of Major General Dension that is not possible.[4]

Note: This profile was originally created for a third possible Sarah Dennison, daughter of Edward, married to James Harris, but the profile was abandoned and comments on G2G indicated that James Harris was married to a Sarah Eliot, not Sarah Denison. Therefore it was reclaimed for Sarah, wife of Tobijah.

Morley, I can find no evidence that Edward Denison and Elizabeth Weld had a daughter Sarah. All his kids were born in Roxbury, while Sarah was born in Boston. They had 14 children, and all have been accounted for without Sarah. I believe she should be disconnected from these parents. Vic
