They joined the Quakers by the birth of their fourth child in March of 1670. [1] John was arrested at a Quaker meeting in July 1670, and in 1675 he was imprisoned for refusing to pay tithes. [1]

Location

Alloway Creek has had at least six names, one of them being Monmouth (or Munmouth) River - takes the name from Monmouth Precinct, which comprised Lower and Upper Alloway Creek. Named by Fenwick in honor of the Duke of Monmouth, (aka Monmouth River), Salem, New Jersey, (later the USA).

Research Notes

Inventory made by Edward Champneys, John Smith, and George Haslewood[10]. In this period of time, inventories were often made either by relatives or nearby neighbors, and usually persons who were very trusted and respected; thus, these names can be important clues!
