Notable Mentions

  • Edward and Harriet's house in Taralga was mentioned on a mud map.

NB: There was a mud map at the Taralga Showground website but as of 2021 the site no longer exists. However in 2020 I was made aware that the mud map is incorrect, the house is actually Thomas & Martha Denning's home. I have included a photo of their house I took in April 2019 - it's still there

  • THE Bench of Magistrates at Goulburn hereby appoint Mr. Thomas Taylor, Junior, as Poundkeeper at Taralga, in the place of Edward Denning, resigned. ;P. PLUNKETT J.P. ;Police Office, Goulburn,. [2]
  • Big house on top of hill belonged to Dennings.(This may also reference another of Denning family members who lived in Taralga). Mr Mascelli bought church in Taralga getting married there in 1989 (Malcolm Glynn knew Mr Mascelli). Pound keepers cottage in Pound Street Taralga has had many extensions and additions.
  • From Taralga Historical Society, 20 July 1986
The "old" public school residence was the home of the first Denning but sadly was demolished before our Historical Society became active. It had been built in 1832. There are two other old homes in the town (stone) that belonged to the early Dennings.
  • Edward was apparently very religious and often gave money to the Church.
  • His brother Thomas Denning helped build the church in Taralga and it is now used as the Taralga Historical Society.

Edward Denning died at his residence in Taralga, NSW, on 19th June 1890. He sadly is in an unmarked grave at the Stonequarry Cemetery, NSW, Australia. Just a few minutes drive from Taralga. [3]
