Francois Desmarets, son of Jean Baptiste Desmarets and Magdeleine Fontenot, was baptized on 8 Nov. 1789, the baptism was recorded at St. Landry Catholic Church, Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.^[1]

He married marie McAuley, daughter of Patrick McAuley and Julienne West, on 2 Dec. 1813, their marriage was recorded at St. Landry Catholic Church. ^[1]
