Biography

He was born on 11 Nov 1683 in Schriesheim, Baden Germany (near Heidelberg). Alternately Near Neuweid,Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany.

Anthony Upton C. Dierdorff or Deardorff married about 1707 to Christina Rodebusch. [1] in New jersey. It is believed that Anthony came to America with Alexander Mack of Swartzenau, Germany in about 1729, but no proof of such has been found. On 08 Jul 1730 in New Jersey he became a naturalized citizen, by act of the New Jersey Assembly, along with his sons Peter, Anthony, Christian, John, and Heinrich.[2]

Anthony was a member of the Church of the Brethren and a religious refugee from Germany. In 1738, in the township of Hanover, in York county, Elder Daniel Leatherman organized Little Conewago Congregation. Among the constituent members were families of the name Eldrick, Dierdorff, Bigler, Gripe, Stutsman, and others. After living in York County Pennsylvania, Anthony and four others founded the Brethren Church in Amwell, New Jersey. [3] In 1770 there were 77 members in the congregation, including Anthony Dierdorff and wife, John Dierdorff and wife, Abraham Stauffer and wife, Henry Dierdorff and wife, Andrew Trimmer and wife, and Peter Dierdorff and his wife.[4] Anthony died about 1745 in Amwell Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey.

Dierdorff-11 and Dierdorf-17 appear to represent the same person because: might possibly be same person. Linked to same FindAGrave file

Deardorff-98 and Dierdorff-11 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicate -- Dierdoff probably family name at birth. Several of his children have duplicate profiles as well, under Dierdorff/Deardorff alternatives.
