Biography
Mary Modena Dills, daughter of Jeremiah Dills and Rachel Payne, was born on 28 October 1865 in Cartoogechaye, Macon County, North Carolina. She died from burns and heart problems as a result of accidentally setting her dress on fire on 16 December 1947 in Greenville, Hunt County, Texas. She is buried in Forest Park Cemetery, Greenville, Hunt County.[1]
Mary married Benjamin F Smith on 1 June 1882 at the home of her father J M Dills in Macon County, North Carolina.[2]
