Sarah Doane married Charles Stout in 1823. He was the son of Peter Stout and Charity Barnes of Chatham County, North Carolina. Census records suggest most of their children were born in Iowa.
Their family was recorded in Round Prairie, Jefferson County, Iowa in the 1850 census. Spelling of names and the accuracy of ages in the census records was highly unreliable in the early years. In this case, Eunis should have been recorded as Eunice, She and Jasper were married May 19, 1850. [2]
Information from the transcription of that census:
Charles and Sarah Stout had settled in Kirkville, Mahaska County, Iowa by 1860. [4]
Sarah Doane Stout passed away December 18, 1865. She was buried in Westview Cemetery, Kirkville, Wapello County, Iowa, United States. [1]
