Biography

William Henry Dodson was born the 6th of December 1848 in Jefferson county, Missouri. William was the son of James Riley Dodson and Mary E.M. Bevis.

William, age 12, appears in the 1860 Federal census in Jefferson county, Missouri in the household of his father, James R. Dodson.^[1]

William, age 20, appears in the 1870 Federal census in Jefferson county, Missouri in the household of his brother George Dodson.^[2]

William married Rachel Anna Spurgeon on the 9th of March 1871. A marriage record has not been located.

William appears in the 1880 Federal census in Maries county, Missouri. William's household appears as follows: W.H. age 32; Racheal age 22; James r. age 6; and Rowena age 7 months.^[3]

William appears in the 1900 Federal census in St. Francois county, Missouri. William's household appears as follows: William age 52, born December 1848; Rachel A. age 43, born April 1857; and listed as the mother of 12 children with 6 children living; James R. age 28, born October 1872; Rachel E. age 15, born July 1885; Joseph age 10, born September 1890; Thomas H. age 7, born May 1893; Jacob T. age 4, born April 1896; Willard F. age 3 months, born February 1900; and Mary M. age 73, born May 1827, listed as mother and mother of 15 children with 5 children living.^[4]

William died the 4th of January 1926 in St. Francois county, Missouri.^[5]
