William Dodson has been listed as a son of George Dodson without any documented proof. This William Dodson's birth is given as 1734 in Chester County, Pennsylvania. It is known from the parish records of North Farnham Parish, Richmond County, Virginia that George Dodson and his wife Margaret were living in Richmond County, Virginia from the time of their marriage in 1726, and had a son, Rawleigh Dodson born in 1730 and another son Thomas Dodson born in 1735. The records of North Farnham Parish do not have a record of George and Margaret Dodson having a son named William. The manuscript of the Rev. Elias Dodson, as quoted in the The Dodson (Dotson) Family of North Farnham Parish, Richmond County, Virginia: A History and Genealogy of Their Descendants," also does not name a William Dodson as being a son of George Dodson.

Capt. John Ashby was the son of Col. John Ashby, b. ,1707, d. 1797. and Jean Combs, whom he m. May, 11, 1741. Col. A. , was :captain 2nd. Co. ,Va. Rangers, Oct. 21, 1755. Gen. Daniel Morgan was a private in his company. He was with Washington during the Braddock Campaign. "He bore Washington's dispatches, containing the news of Braddock's defeat, from Winchester to Williamsburg, and returned with Gov. Dinwiddie's reply before the English commander supposed he had started on his journey. A letter from Williamsburg, June 2, 1774, says that at the battle of Pt. Pleasant the Indians had killed the noted Capt. Ashby, who, in the last war, brought the ..first account of Braddock's defeat to this city with amazing expedition."
