Biography

Ely Dorsey was born about 1747 in Anne Arundel, Maryland to parents Edward Dorsey and Deborah ___. He married Elizabeth Barnes on 21 Feb 1778 in Baltimore, Maryland. Children: Sarah, Archibald, Edward. He died in Oct 1818 in Baltimore, Maryland.

His mother was not Deborah Maccubbin. That lady was married to a different Edward Dorsey. Ely's mother's maiden name is not known.

(There is a marriage record for an Elizabeth Barnes and Samuel Glover on 24 Feb 1778 in Baltimore, Maryland.)
