William (Douglas) Douglas Ist of Drumlanrig is a member of Clan Douglas.

William was the 1st [Lord] of Drumlanrig,[1][2] son of James Douglas.[1][3] He was given this title/land as the illegitimate son of the Earl of Douglas. It is not known who his mother was. She was almost certainly not Elizabeth Stewart, wife of James, the 2nd Earl of Douglas.

He married firstly, Elizabeth Stewart[4][5][6] — married 1392 in Fife, Scotland. They had issue, including:

  1. William[7]

He married secondly, Jean Murray, d. bef. 12 Jun 1410.[4]

He married thirdly, Jacoba, daughter of Sir James Douglas of Dalkeith and relict of Sir John Hamilton of Cadzow.[4]

He was knighted before Oct 1405.[7] William died soon after the Battle of Baugé on 21 Mar 1421. In the retour of his son in Sep 1427 he was said to have been deceased for six years.[6]
