"Ludvig Wilhelm August Douglas, bom 26th November 1849 at Zurich. Married, 30th September 1876, at Tosterup, Countess Anna Louisa Dorotea Ehrensvard, daughter of Count Albert Karl August Lars Ehrensvard, and has issue."[1]
Ludwig Wilhelm August Douglas was born on 26 Nov 1849 in Zürich, Switzerland. He was the son of Charles Israel William Douglas (1824-1898) and Louisa Katarina (Zähringen) Douglas (1825-1900). Via his mother, he was a close relative of Victoria von Baden, the Queen Consort of Sweden.
In 1876, he married Countess Anna Louise Dorotée Ehrensvärd, daughter of Albert Ehrensvärd, who would later become Secretary of Foreign Affairs in Sweden. From 1 Jun 1895 to 27 Oct 1899, Douglas was Swedish Secretary of Foreign Affairs. He resigned because Norway, which was at that time in a Union with Sweden, wanted to use a flag without the mark of the Union.
His descendants created several new branches mainly around Sweden and Germany.
