Biography

Marion Douglass was born on 29 September 1849 at Dixfield, Maine, the son of William Douglass and Mahala Tucker.

He grew up in Dixfield and graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine in 1876. He was a lawyer.

Marion married May E Brook on 19 Dec 1882 at Bangor, Maine. The marriage record states that Marion was a resident of Columbia, Dakota and May a resident of Bangor. Their marriage intention was published 14 Dec 1882 and they were married 19 Dec 1882 by Rev. R. L. Howard of Bangor. After their marriage, Marion and May moved west and settled in Minnesota.

The 1900 US census for Duluth, Minnesota lists residents of a home located at 509 4th Street West as Marion Douglas (44), a lawyer born in Maine, his wife Mary E (35), born in Illinois, boarder Henry A Siedel (24), born in Minnesota, a tobacco salesman, boarder Edward C Siedel (27), born in Minnesota and a law student, and nephew Zerle E Brooke (24), born in Iowa, a stenographer. Marion owns his home and has been married for eighteen years. Mary has given birth to no children.

The 1910 US census for Duluth, Minnesota lists residents of a home at 509 West 4th Street as Marion Douglas (54), a general practice lawyer born in Maine, his wife May [sic] E (47), born in Illinois, boarder Edward C Leidell [sic] (34), owner of an insurance office, born in Minnesota and servant Lillian Bergman )16), born in Wisconsin. The Douglas' have been married for twenty-eight years and have no children.

Marion died on 19 November 1914 at Duluth, Minnesota.
