Emily Dugger was born on September 2, 1830, in Carter County, Tennessee to Mary Engle, age 44, and John Dugger, age 49.
In 1833 Emily was living in Tennessee where the 1833 Leonid Meteor Shower was most visible, and may have witnessed one of the most spectacular meteor showers in history on “the night the stars fell”[1]
Marriage
Emily Dugger married Elijah Bunton on 14 Nov 1846 in Johnson County, Tennessee, when she was 16 years old.[2]
They had eleven children: Mary Ann was born on February 7, 1847. Jacob Dugger was born on May 18, 1848. John Franklin was born on March 30, 1853. Benjamin Taylor was born on August 11, 1855. James W. was born on January 1, 1858. Lemuel was born in 1860. Peter Bird was born on July 12, 1861. General was born in 1864. General died in 1865 Abraham Cable was born on September 25, 1865. Ulysses Grant was born on September 30, 1867. Nancy was born about 1871
