Research notes

The After 1764 birthdate for Moses Dukes of Richland is estimated from his father Robert Duke of Fairfield's will that was written and signed 10DEC1784: "...Likewise my Stock of horses and Cattle hoog and all my other Moveable Estate to be kept together until my son Moses Duke comes to the age of twenty one years of age and then to be Sold att publick Vandue..." and the 29MAY1789 date of Robert Duke estate sale. Additionally, on 28JAN1785, Moses Duke was a co-signing witness when Robert Duke of Fairfield's will was recorded.

The suspected death date and place for Moses Duke of Richland source from the 1850 US Census Mortality Schedule for Pickens County, Alabama, line 20. Moses Duke, age 70, Male, Widow, born in SC, deceased September 1849 of 'old age.' The record also sets the suspected death date for his wife Mary Faust Duke as 'Before September 1849.

Biography

Moses was born between 1764 and 1768. He was the son of Robert Duke and Nancy Abbott. He passed away in 1849.
