Discrepancy
Some sources show that Elizabeth Duncan was a widow with two children. It indicates that Duncan may not be her last name at birth.
Several Name Variations and spellings used in Court documents (with and without the apostrophe mark) OBannon; O'Bannon O'Banion, Obanion etc.
Most commonly used is the "O'Bannon" spelling for this family.
The O'Bannon surname may be derived from the Irish names Bann, Bannan, Bannon or O'Banain, according to "Irish Pedigrees" by John O'Hart, (Dublin 1892), Volume 1, pg. 855. Volume 2, pg. 566. The spelling has been variously referenced as O'Bannon, O'Banyan, O'Bannion, O'banion, Obannon, Obanyan, or Obannion.
Some researchers indicate Elizabeth is believed to have been the widow of Joseph Duncan at the time of her marriage to William. (Most likely erroneous) It is presumed that the Joseph referred to is the same Joseph who married Lydia Hooe, whose children married children of Elizabeth and William O'Bannon. Lydia was named in Joseph's 1792 will; Lydia died in 1797.
Revised Estimated Birth 1715-1720 (vs 1712)
Estimated Marriage 1735

Elizabeth may have died after 1771 (vs Before 1750). A William O'Bannon appears in the Fauquier County Minute Book Abstracts 1769-1771 at least two times (indenture named "wife Elizabeth". Whether or not it is William (b. 1710-1712), William (b. 1730, or William (b. 1738) is not known at this time. Additional research on the matter is necessary[1]
