John is not to be confused with any of these John Cox below

This is not John Cox that married 3 Jan 1786 Montgomery Co VA Margaret daughter of James Carr. John and Margaret moved about 1800 to Knox Co Kentucky that became Whitley Co. John died Oct 1823 and his Will probated 2 Mar 1824 Whitley Co Kentucky; his wife Margaret predeceased him.

John Cox, wife Sarah purchased 538 acres on Renick Run in Botetourt Co 9 August 1803 and listed Botetourt Land Tax 1803-1815, 1820 Botetourt Census on Cowpasture River and listed in 1850 Alleghany Co age 84 born 1766 in Pennsylvania.

Timeline and records Rececca is found in:

Rebeccah Cox is listed 22 April 1806 (Virginia) with 3 horses next to sons David Cox and William Cox.[1]

Rebeccah Cocks is listed in 1809 Wayne County Kentucky Tax without property with no males over 21 but with 2 horses next to son David Cocks (Cox). Two other sons appear to be listed with William Cox Sr. Rebecca Cox received assignment of a Seminary Land Grant next to John and Elizabeth (Cox) McGee (David's in laws) 7 February 1810[2] on Meadow Creek, Wayne County.

Rebecca Cox purchased an additional 22 acres from John and Elizabeth McGee on 9 March 1810[3] adjoining her other land on Meadow Creek. Her property line is listed as that of "Widow Cox's corner" in a deed 3 October 1810 [4] from John and Elizabeth McGee to John Martin.

Rebecca Cox is listed in Wayne County Tax 1810-1824[5] with 72 acres Meadow Creek and 2 or 3 horses. She is listed in Wayne Tax in 1827 with 1 male over age 21, her son-in-law Peter Sullens as her 72 acres are listed under his name in 1828. Rebecca is probably the female over age 45 (born before 1775) with Peter and Betsy Sullens in 1820 Wayne County Census and age 60-69 (born 1761-1770) with them in 1830 Wayne County.[6] Rebecca sold 72 acres on Meadow Creek 20 August 1831; Betsy Sullins, Peter Sullins and Rebecca Johnson signed the deed along with her Rebecca Cox. [7] (A husband is not listed for Rebecca Cox and none of her sons were listed in Wayne County at this time). I have not found Rebecca Cox in Wayne County after August 1831 and she may have died as Peter and Betsy Sullens moved to Missouri about 1832.
