James Dunning was born around 1791.[1] Note that the date of birth is shown as either Devon, England[2] or Olster, Ireland.[3] I have assumed he was born in Ireland.
James and his family came to America in 1717 and settled in Brunswick, in what is now Maine. He was a soldier in Capt. Woodside's company in 1727 in Fort George. By 1839 he was a landowner in Brunswick and later became a selectman.[2]
