Biography
Daniel Dye was born on July 31, 1747 in Middlesex, New Jersey, son of Vincent Dye (1722–1796) and Sarah Hixon (1727–1797).
Daniel (25) married Abigail Hutchinson (18) (born in 1754 in Middlesex) on March 24, 1773 in Middlesex. In 1813 he became the first permanent white settler in Monroe County, Ohio. Daniel and Abigail moved to Monroe Co. OH about 1797 from VA. They freed their slaves before coming to OH, but 2 slaves (Jerry and Randell) insisted on coming with them. Abigail’s name is spelled "Hitchinson" on the marriage records.
