Corporal Anthony Dyer served with Rhode Island Militia during the American Revolution.

Anthony Dyer, son of John Dyer (1719-1801) and Freelove (Williams) Dyer (1719-1775) was born on 27 January 1743 in Providence, Rhode Island.

Antney married Sarah (Bishop) Dyer (1744-1841) on 29 September 1763 in Attleboro, Bristol, Massachusetts, United States.[1]

In the 1774 census Anthoney was in Glocester, Rhode Island, British America.[2][3]

Anthony Dyer, born June 27, 1743, of Cranston, R. I., was a soldier in the Revolution. In January 1776 he was enrolled in the troop of light horse called the Captain General's Cavaliers- Col. Benjamin Stock- and was appointed first sergeant, serving in said capacity until July 14, 1777, when he was honorably discharged; this organization performed many tours of duty as a body and in detachment, being located at Point Judith, Tower Hill, and along both shores of Narragansett Bay; in September 1776, Anthony Dyer was ordered to his troop on the island of Rhode Island, where he served six weeks, thence he was ordered to Tower Hill, where he served five weeks; from there he was ordered to Point Judith, where the troop was located when the British landed at Newport; the troop was largely occupied in carrying dispatches on occasions of alarm.

His DAR record states Anthony Dyer (1743-1802) served as corporal 1776 in Col. Benjamin Slack's regiment of Light Horse and 1780 cornet in Capt. David Burlingame's company of Rhode Island militia.[5]

Anthony and his family were in Glocester, Rhode Island, in 1790.[6]

Anthony died (age 66) on 2 December 1808 in Rhode Island, United States.[7] He is buried in Swan Point Cemetery in Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island.[8][9]

In 1850, all three of Anthony's daughters (Freelove, Hannah & Sally were living together in Rhode Island.[13]
