    1. ) In the name of God Amen the 26th day of January the year of our Lord 1740 (1 I Philip Estman of Ashford In the County of Windham and Colony of Connecticut Husbandman being In a Weak and low Condition In body but of Perfit mind and memory thanks be Given To God Thence for Caling to mind ye mortality of my body and knowing It is appointed for all men once to Dye: not Knowing how son It may please God to Call me ye way of all ye Earth to make and ordain this to be my last will and testament and princeaply and first of all I Give and Recomend my Soul Into ye hands of God That Gave It Ernstly beging his most Gracious Reception of It In and Through ye merits of ye Lord Jesus Christ my Dear Redeemer and my body I Recomond to ye Earth from Whence It was Taken to be buried In a Descent Christian Burial at ye Discretion of my Executors hereafter named No ways doubting but I shall Receive The same again at the General Resurrection of ye Dead by ye mighty power of God and Touching such Worldly Estate Wherewith It hath pleased God to Bles me with all: after all my Just Debts and Funeral Charges are first paid I give and demise Thereof In ye Following manar--
    2. ) Imprimas: I Give and bequeath to my Eldest Son Philip all ye land that lyeth north of his home farm Bounded West on Samuel Estmans land and East on ye Cedar Swamp Brook: and north on Said brook with ye oald orchard and all thing Theireon: and three acres at ye East End of that strip of land lying betwin Samuels and Temothys land and all my right of land I bought with Nathaniel Fuller Joyning to union now in partnership with Aron Fuler and all that sute of Cloaths I bought of madam Domon last January In boston and my log chain and my two year oald shears which were two year oald last pring all with What I have already Given him I account to be his full portion out of my Estate It being his ful part In ye Whole of my Estate Excepting my Great Bible my law book my best hat and best Shart together with my Cane I moreover bequest to him.---

    7. ) Item: I Give to my Wife one Good cow and my bed I now ly on and one Third of ye household stuff and If She so causes to mary again I order my Two sons Ebenezer and Jonathan to pay hur fifty pounds in money so she Is to acquit my Estate and I Will and order that my Daughter Hanah Dwell with hur mother as long as her mother liveth and that my two sons Ebenezer and Jonathan pay five pounds yearly Towards her maintainance and after their mothers deceases I order that Ebenezer and Jonathan Shall take ye care of hur and provide What is nesesary for hur Comfort and as to Dividing the Estate- Ebenezer and Jonathan may do as thay Cause When Jonathan coms of age and I Will and order that Jonathan Shall have liberty to Chose him a Gardian to manage for him till he Is one and twenty years oald and Can Earn In That Time he is to have for his own profit only that -- Ebenezer Is to have ye benefit of his third In ye meantime Towards paying the legacies above Exprest and farthermore I do by these Presents make ordain my loving sons Philip Samuel and Ebenezer Estman to be my sole Executors of this my last Will and Testaent Ratifying and holding firm and valid all and Whatsoever my said Executors Shall lawfully do or Cause to Be don and I do hearby utterly disavow Revoake and anull all and Every other former Testament Wills and legacies and Executors by me before this time Named Willed or bequeathed Ratifieingand Confirming This and not other be Said my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have heare unto set my hand an seall ye day and year above writen signed sealed published prouned and deliverd by ye said Philip Estman as his last Will and Testament In ye presents of us ye subscribers Peter Tufts Benjamin Rusoh Junr.   1. ) Eastman Genealogy; page 26: Philip Eastman (23.); son of Philip, born in Haverhill, Mass., Aug. 18, 1684 ; married Oct. 20, 1715, Mary East- man, born March 29, 1690, daughter of Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Hudson) Eastman (see No. 3, vi). Mr. Eastman went to Ashford, Conn., when a young man; returned to Salisbury and married and returned to Ashford, where he lived and died. He was agent for Ashford in presenting a petition to the Connecticut Assembly, praying for exemption of the town taxes on account of the drouth. He was a lieutenant of a trained band in Ashford in 1733; justice of the peace in and for Windham county in 1733-5. He was chosen to lay out highways in 1715, and was admitted a proprietor the same year, and in 1732 was chosen to represent Ashford in the Connecticut Assembly, and so continued for several years.
