Notes

Note H00434Born in New Jersey, Benj. moved back to Ct. with his father where he married his first wife and most of his children were born. Just before the Revolution he moved to Arlington, Vt., and after the death of his wife he moved to Fairfield, NY where his son lived. There he married his second wife.

Benjamin was a Tory. He went with his parents to VT and settled in Arlington during the early settlement of that town. He fought at Saratoga in the British army, was taken prisoner and after his release, and traveled to Canada where he settled in Cornwall. There were many children by both wives. Many of the birth dates shown for the children are really baptismal dates.
