Biography

Parents

Sarah was the daughter of Joseph Easton and Sarah Spencer.[1][2] Sarah can be associated with her inferred parents because her inferred brother, Timothy Easton (bp. 11 Aug 1695), was appointed guardian of Sarah’s orphaned son, Joseph Drake, on 2 Jun 1730.[3]

Birth

Her birth date is estimated to be before her baptism.

Baptism

Sarah was baptized on 2 Jun 1700 at the First Church, Hartford, CT.[2][4] See Research Notes.

Places of Residence

East Windsor, Hartford, Connecticut.[1][5]

Marriage

She married Joseph Drake Jr. on 31 Mar 1721.[5] Joseph preceded his wife in death on 12 Dec 1727.[2]

Children

Sarah and Joseph had the following children while living in East Windsor:[2]
  1. Sarah Easton, b. 15 Jan 1721/22[6]
  2. Lemuel, b. 12 Sep 1723[7]
  3. Ebenezer
  4. Joseph
  5. Samuel

Death

Sarah was the executor of her deceased husband's will, but she died before the administration was completed. She was replaced as executor of his will by David Bissel on 11 May 1730.[3]

Burial

Location unknown.

Research Notes

Baptism Date: The 02 Jan 1699/1700 baptism date is based on published research by Easton.[1] Gay and Barber reported Sarah's date of baptism as 2 Jun 1700.[2][4] Multiple reporting errors were found in Easton's research while drafting this profile, including the death date of Joseph Drake Jr. (1726) and Sarah's date of death (1741). Joseph's probate was in progress in 1730, [3] so Gay's report of death/burial on 12 Dec 1727 seems more reasonable. Joseph's probate records report widow Sarah's death before 11 May 1730.[3] In light of the reporting errors by Easton, it's possible Gay and Barber's baptism date (2 Jun 1700) is more reliable.
