Jeremiah Allison Eddleman was born December 19, 1840 in Rowan County, North Carolina, United States to parents [Eddleman-154|Daniel Eddleman]] and Elizabeth Eagle .
Jeremiah applied for a marriage license to Mary Levinia Sifford in Rowan County, North Carolina on April 23, 1866 but the document looks to read 1864 and was thusly indexed as such here: [1] but multiple documents survived to show a wedding date of April 26, 1866[2]
Together the couple had three sons**:
John (1878 - 1932)
Calvin Augustus (1868 - 1949)
Henry Albert (1874 - 1944)
There is a name "Bettie Eddleman" on the 1870 Census for a girl of 8 years that wouldn't have been on the 1860 Census and wasn't on the family's 1880 Census. Upon finding the document and reading closely; her race is listed as "Black" with the rest of the family being "white"[3] but there is no mention of slave ownership nor useage of adjectives / job titles like "housekeeper" have been used here or on any other Census for other persons.
Jeremiah passed away in Litaker Township, China Grove, Rowan County, North Carolina, United States on May 27, 1926 from "uremia" due to "cancer of the bladder". [4]
His body was interred in Ebenezer Lutheran Church Cemetery[5] on May 28, 1926. [6]
