He served first as an ensign under Brigadier-General Rezin Beall, to whom he was related. Later he was promoted, firstly as a lieutenant and then as a captain. Thomas Edmonston married his second cousin Mary Beall and they had five sons and two daughters. Three grandsons and a granddaughter are also recorded. edmonstone.com

Edmonston-100 and Edmonston-232 appear to represent the same person because: As per Gary R. Harding, who emailed me. He suggested this merge and after reviewing the dates, the names and the parents. This leads me to conclude that they are indeed the same person.

According to E.G. Jourdan, Mary Ann Edmonston-132 b. 1733 is more likely the d/o Edmonston-107 James Edmonston and Beall-677 Mary Beall (of Ninian, Jr. of Alexander).
