Biography

James (Edmonstone) Edmonstone of that Ilk is a member of Edmonstone Clan.

James was the son of David Edmonstron^[1] and Agnes Maitland.

• 1430 James Edmonstone, while still a boy, was among the sons of the nobility who were knighted by James I of Scotland at Holyrood during the celebrations which followed the christening of the King's twin infant sons.

• He was born at Edmonstone, Scotland.

• Sir James Edmonstone, Thane of Boyne married 1st Isabel Forrester, daughter of John Forrester, 3rd Laird of Corstorphine. After the Birth of their Child: John Edmonstone who succeeded him, Sir James & Isabella were then Divorced.

He married firstly, Isabella Forrester d. 4 Feb 1457, daughter of Sir John Forester (ancestor of the Lords Forester of Corstorphine). They had issue:

1. John Edmondstone b. Before 1457., who succeeded his Father: Sir James Edmonstone.

He married secondly, Janet Napier, daughter of Sir Alexander Napier of Merchiston, Provost of Edinburgh and Elizabeth Lauder, c. January 1457.^[2] They had issue:

1. Elizabeth, m. Sir Patrick Blackadder, second son of Blackadder of that ilk^[2]
2. Margaret, m. Sir Walter, second son of Sir Walter Ogilvie of Auchleven.^[2]

James died before 23 February 1486.
