Biography
Christina, also known as Christian was the daughter of James Elliott and Christian Black.[1]
She married in 1851 to Murdo Matheson, a Shepherd, at Contin, Ross and Cromarty.
Children born to Christy and Murdo who didn't survive were, Rebecca (Source 1861 Census), John born in 1861 [2], daughter Christy born in 1865 [3], son William John born in 1868 [4], Archibald Duncan in 1870[5]
Six known surviving children left Scotland with Christina and Murdo.
Christina arrived in New Zealand on the ship 'Auckland ' on October 27 1875 with her husband Murdo and 6 children, Dugall, James, Matthew, Robert, Alex and Jessie. She and Murdo settled at Hartfield, Hyde.
Christina died age 82 and is buried at Middlemarch Cemetery, Otago. BLK 2 PLOT 72.
