Biography

Edward was a son of the first Elmer in The New World, third son, fourth child of of seven of Edward and Mary Elmer. He was born in Hartford in 1654. Not too much is known about Edward except that he married Rebecca Fitch and raised a family, six children in all. Later he married Hannah and had three more children. At 71 years of age, Edward's life came to an end.
EDWARD ELMER (II) was born in 1654 in Hartford, Connecticut. He was the son of Edward Elmer and Mary (maiden name unknown, possibly Partridge). He married Rebecca Fitch (~1664-1710), daughter of Joseph Fitch and Mary Stone, around 1684 in Windsor, Connecticut. They had 9 children: Mary; Hezekiah (1686-Aft. 1754); Caleb; Amos; Hester; and Rebecca. Edward and his family were noted to be members of the Centre Church of Hartford. After his father passed he received 92 pounds from the estate. However, in 1681 he reopened the estate due to other debtor claims and the court appointed auditors to go over the accounts. In 1696 Thomas Long, whom married his sister Sarah, sued Edward and John as administrators of the estate because Sarah never received her share of the estate. Rebecca also died prior to 1696, as he remarried to Hannah (maiden name unknown). They had 3 children together: Hannah; Edward; and Ann. Hannah died around 1710 and Edward died in 1725, in Hartford, Connecticut. Edward’s estate did not leave a distribution to his children Mary, Hester, and Hannah, indicating they had passed before him.
