James was born 10 April 1698 Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts[1]
He married Ruth Watson of Haverhill, Massachusetts, in 1719. They resided in Haverhill till about 1725, at which time the family moved to Dracut, Massachusetts. James was a farmer.[2]
He made his will May 3, 1762, when he stated that he was "now Inlisted a soldier in his Majeste's Service." He died in Dracut in 1763.
