Will's father's birth name was Cyrus D. Emery. Cyrus was first married to Martha Denniston, but after leaving her and their children in Kansas (no divorce), he moved to Iowa, and used the name Charles Emrie when he married Elizabeth M. Brown. They had 3 children: William Wade Emrie, Paul Leedy Emrie, and Helen Constance Emrie (my grandmother). Around 15 years after marrying Elizabeth he disappeared again. See Cyrus D Emery profile for details. So the sources for the Emrie children usually have Charles Emrie as the father.
Burial: 30 Apr 1903. Union Cemetery, Humboldt, Iowa.
From research by Jean (Heath) Hinkle:
"Emrie, William Wade was born in Dakota City, Iowa, Dec. 19, 1883. Died in St. Louis, Missouri, April 24, 1903. Funeral at Dakotah Christian Church, Rev. M. D. Reed of Humboldt, officiating. Burial in Union Cemetery April 30, 1903."--From "Early Humboldt County Deaths," held in Humboldt Library.
"A. C. Brown and family of Estherville, J. L. Brown and family of Monterey, Minnesota, and W. O. Brown and family of Bradgate have been here the past few days, called to attend the funeral of Will Emrie.".
"Last Saturday Mrs. Emrie received the sad news of the death of her son in a hospital in St. Louis. He had been very low with typhoid fever for some time and the final result was not entirely unexpected. It has been the intention to bring the remains here but owing to some unexpected delay in shipping, the body did not arrive until this morning. The funeral takes place today at the Christian church at 2:00 p.m. The relatives here have the sympathy of the entire community."--Humboldt Independent, April 30, 1903.
"Word was received by W. O. Brown of the death of Will Emrie, in St. Louis, of typhoid fever. He will be remembered by many here having spent most of the winter here."--Humboldt Republican, May 1, 1903, (Bradgate News).!Birth, Death: Family records.
William "Will" Emrie was born in "S. Humboldt County" Iowa, according to the Iowa Census, 1895, for West Bend, Palo Alto County, Iowa. He is probably buried in the Brown family plot, Union Cemetery, Humboldt, Iowa, although we have not found a headstone or burial record there. Sources: Old family notes, Will's last letter home, and Gordon Connelly's History of the Leedy Family.
[Note: I found no birth record in Humboldt County or Pocahontas County for Will. We might find a reference in old newspapers if we looked at issues dated shortly after Will's birth date. According to the History of Kossuth and Humboldt Counties, p. 617, the Gilmore City Herald was established in November 1883. The State Historical archives in Des Moines has files of many old newspapers.].
