The Park City Daily News (Bowling Green, Kentucky)03 Apr 1939, Mon Page 1 W F Ennis Sr, Taken By Death Long Illness Is Fatal To Glen Lily Road Resident W F Ennis Sr., Glen Lily road resident who for many years was prominent in business and communities activities in Bowling Green, died this morning at 4:30 o'clock at his home following an illness of 8 weeks. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. The services will be in charge of the Rev. G. Dewey Kimbel, the pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. Mr. Ennis was born in Warren County on Apr 13, 1856, and was a son of W. T. Ennis and Mandane Gatewood Ennis, pioneer residents of the section. On December 7, 1898, he married Miss Beulah Holman of this county who died April 27, 1907. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Randolph Hobson of Evansville, and three sons, W F Ennis, Jr., Noel Ennis, and Leslie Ennis, all of Warren County; two foster children, Mrs. Herman England of Sparta, Tn., and Mrs. R. H. Cornett of Harlan, and eight grandchildren. He was an uncle of Harry W. Ennis, former representative to the legislature from the city district. For many years, Mr. Ennis engaged in contracting work throughout Southern Kentucky with Bowling Green as his headquarters. He was one of the original good roads enthusiasts of the section and while a member of the Rotary Club, took an active part in co-operating with the program to bring passable roads to the district. As a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, he was considered one of the principal leaders of the congregation. He had served as an elder since he was 24 years of age, and was long prominent in directing business activities of the church.


William Franklin Ennis was born on April 13, 1856, in Warren, Kentucky, his father, William Tennant Ennis was 29 and his mother, Nancy Mandane Gatewood, was 24. He married Beulah Jane Holman and they had five children together. He died on April 3, 1939, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, at the age of 82, and was buried in Fairview Cemetery.

William Franklin Ennis, Sr was the son of William Tennant Ennis and Nancy Mandane Gatewood. He married late in life (age 44) to Beulah Jane Holman, niece of his business associate Tom Jeff Sweeney.
