Nikki, with her beautiful voice and love of sports, whether it be swimming, sailing, or skating, is always on the go. Her membership in the National Honor Society and the Student Council will give her a good backing for college.


Junior high school saw us as a happy group, full of hope for the next six years — we surely did need it. During these two years we experienced many new things — election of class officers, a different class in a different room every period, and parties galore. While we were in the eighth grade, elected members of the school took over the town offices. We were well represented by Nikki Erkelens who was Water Commissioner for a day.

Miss Cornelia Marie Erkelens, of 95 Glendale Road, Sharon, daughter of Mrs. Brittain Erkelens of Sharon, became the bride of Thomas Herbert Surr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Surr of 126 East Quincy Street, at 11 o'clock Saturday morning in the Unitarian church in Sharon. Rev. Otto K. Jonas, the pastor, officiated at the double-ring service. Miss Janet Louise Sanders of Sharon was maid of honor and Deborah Shimard-Sanders of Sharon was flower girl. Walter Philip Gould of this city, friend of the bridegroom, served as best man, and Henri Frederick Erkelens, the bride's brother, Calvin Hosmer, 3rd, William Holbrook Burtt and Alan Frazar Dunakin, all of Sharon, cadets at Norwich University, served as ushers. The bride was given in marriage by her grandfather, Frederick Victor Brittain.
