Biography

Daniel was named in the will of his father Solomon Esham, Sr. [1] Solomon Eshom Sr. willed a part of 'Eshoms Adventure' to Daniel Eshom his son in 1777.[2]

Daniel Eshon was granted administration of the estate of Mary Jeffery, in Northampton County, Virginia 1773. [3]

Daniel married Elizabeth Collins about 1765 to 1775 in Worcester County, Maryland.

He served in the Revolutionary War from Worcester County, Maryland.[4]

  • Daniel Eshom served in Captain Dennis' Company of the Worcester County MD militia. He is listed as 6th class on a roll call taken 30 Aug 1777.
  • Daniel Eashom is on A Return of the Men Draughted in Worcester County, May the first 1781, Joseph Dashiell., LT.[5]

  • First Oath of Allegiance Worcester County Maryland p 92, a D.A.R. record.

Worcester Co., Maryland tax records 1783 indicate Daniel Eshom as owner of 'Eshoms Last Choice' 197 acres. This land is later willed to Henry Parsons by John Parsons (wife Abigail). Tax List Somerset & Worcester Counties Maryland p101. Daniel Eshum is taxed for 'Eshums Last Choice, 197 acres. There are 2 males and 2 females living on the property.[7]

He acquired several tracts of land in 1791 and 1782. A tract of 27 acres in Worcester County, Maryland called Golden Purchase was purchased from Samuel Taylor in 1791. [8] In 1782 Daniel Eshom patented 'Eshoms Addition' for 212 1/2 acres. [9] Warrant dated 30 May 1791; Survey dated 21 Nov 1791, made by Joshua Mitchell--172 acre resurvey of part of land called Baley Adventure---surveyor added 40 1/2 acres of vacant land for a total of 212 1/2 acres now called Eshom's Addition---described as beginning at a marked pine standing in a branch about 200 yards below Eshom's Mills and about 50 yards to the North Eastward of the road that leads from Snow Hill Town to Saulsbury Town

The 1790 census for Worcester County, Maryland showed Daniel Eashon had 7 persons in his household. Listed together (adjoining each other) on the same page of the census were Daniel Eashon, Solo Eashon Snr, Solo Eashon Jr, Jno Eshon Jr.[10]

In 1800 he resided in Boquetenorton Hundred, Worcester, Maryland. Listed one household away was Solomon Eshum Snr and four households away was Jonathan Eshum.[11]
