Biography

Sarah was born at Durham, now Maine, in 1773, the daughter of Edward Estes and Prudence Goddard.

She married widow Isaac Hoxie about 1809. They were the parents of two known children:

  • Mary Rogers Hoxie b. 8 May 1811 at Sidney, Maine, d. 8 Jul 1898 at Sidney;
  • Silas Hoxie b. 1 Mar 1814 at Sidney, d. 10 Feb 1880 at Sidney.

She died at Orneville, Maine in 1848 and is buried at the Orneville Cemetery, Orneville Maine.

Research notes

I personally visited in cemetery in August 2019 and could not locate the graves although they are listed as being there. Many of the stones are badly damaged, some are unreadable, and a few have fallen face down separated from the base.

Personal history obtained from notes kept by Harriet Taber Miller Johnston, my grandmother and our family's first genealogist who kept impeccable records.
