Birth

Franklin Germenis Etter was born about 1752 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of Peter Etter (1715–1794) and Margaretta Martin (abt. 1723–1754).

Franklin "Germantus" Etter was baptized[1] March 28, 1766, at Christ Church, Braintree, Mass., the son of Peter and Margaret Etter.

Marriage

Francis married Elizabeth Cleverly (born March 31, 1755 in Braintree, Norfolk County, Massachusetts; daughter of Joseph Cleverly (1713–1802) and Esther (Minor) Cleverly (1731–1770)).

Occupation

A justice of the peace and a glassmaker. Also served as town clerk of Chester, NS.

Military Service

He was a Loyalist who emigrated to Canada on 17 Mar 1776. Sailed to Halifax, NS, from Boston on Evacuation Day 1776.

He made stockings for the British Army during the American Revolution.

Military service began 26 Oct 1777. Served in 7th British Fusiliers. He was promoted to Lt. in the Royal Nova Scotia Volunteers, Dec. 25, 1780.

Military service ended in 1783. [2]

Served as a Vestryman at St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Chester, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Death

Francis died on September 28, 1828 in Chester, Nova Scotia Colony, aged 75.[3]

Burial

Buried at Chester Presbyterian Cemetery, Chester, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, Canada.
