Franklin Germenis Etter was born about 1752 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, son of Peter Etter (1715–1794) and Margaretta Martin (abt. 1723–1754).

Military Service

He was a Loyalist who emigrated to Canada on 17 Mar 1776. Sailed to Halifax, NS, from Boston on Evacuation Day 1776.

He made stockings for the British Army during the American Revolution.

Military service began 26 Oct 1777. Served in 7th British Fusiliers. He was promoted to Lt. in the Royal Nova Scotia Volunteers, Dec. 25, 1780.
