"William Evans is in my direct Line. In his Testament, he states that he doesn't know when he was born but thinks it was about 1751 in Caroline Co. VA. He fought in the Rev War and was granted land in GA Below is a copy of the will: Children were named in William Evans, Sr.'s will. (Will Book 1, pp. 161-162, Taliaferro County, Georgia.) "I, William Evans, Sr., being well and of sound memory of mind, thanks be to God and calling to mind the uncertainty of this transitory life do constitute and ordain this my last Will and Testament in the manner of the following, (viz)First, It is my Will that all my just debts should be paid if any are owed by my hereafter named Executors.
Second, It is my Will and desire that all my property both real and personal should be sold and equally divided amongst my following named children share and share alike only as hereafter excepted, that is to way, Absolom Evans, Williams Evans, Jr., Jesse Evans, David Evans, *Elijah Evans, John Evans, Tabitha Irby formerly Tabitha Evans, Elizabeth Irby formerly Elizabeth Evans, Emilia Rhodes formerly Emilia Evans, Rachel Ray formerly Rachel Evans, and it is my Will that my grandchildren the heirs of the body of my daughter, Martha Leverett formerly Martha Evans deceased shall have their Mother's share and they shall share and share alike to be paid them by my executors as they become of age their brothers and sisters equally the amount their Mother Martha would have received if she was still living amongst us."
"I am a direct descendant of a William Evans who lived in Wilkes, but that portion of the county became Taliaferro County (Wilkes was split-up). His name was William Evans, Sr., born about 1751 in Caroline County VA. He joined the North Carolina Continental Army about 1777 as they marched toward GA. After his 18 months was up, he joined the GA Militia and was part of that until 1780. After his time was up, he obtained 400 acres and married Tabitha Thompson. He died in 1841, shortly after obtaining a pension for his service in the Rev War. I am related thru his son Jesse."

William made his will the 24th of March, 1840. William's will was proved in open court on the 6th of September, 1841. William's will reads as follows: "Georgia Taliaferro county - In the name of God Amen I William Evans Senr being well and sound memory and mind thanks be to God and calling to mind the uncertainty of this transitory life do constitute and ordain this my last will and testament in the manner following (viz) 1st It is my will that all my just debts should be paid if any by my hereafter named Executors - Secondly it is my will and desire that all my property both real and personal should be sold and equally divided amongst my following named children shear and shear alike only as hereafter excepted that is to say Absolom Evans, William Evans Junr, Jesse Evans, Daniel Evans, Elijah Evans, John Evans, Tabitha Irby formerly Tabitha Evans, Elizabeth Irby formerly Elizabeth Evans, Nancy Bickers formerly Nancy Evans, Emelia Rhodes formerly Emelia Evans and its is my will that my grandchildren the heirs of the body of my daughters Martha Leverett and Rachael Ray formerly Rachael Evans and Martha Evans shall have a shear equal with the rest of my children to be paid over to them by my Executors as they become of age and if any of my grandchildren should die before they become of age their Brothers and sisters shall have their part it is my will that Rachael Ray formerly Rachael Evans shall have the shear of her children her life time and after her death to go to her children the heirs of her body and be equally divided amongst them it is my will that all my heirs that is owing to my estate it shall be taken out of their part by my Executors and lastly I do nominate and appoint my son and son-in-law John Evans and William Rhodes my Executors to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this the 24th day of March 1840. [signed] William his X mark Evans Senr Assigned and sealed in presence of us Asbury Ogletree, Richard A. Ogletree Williamson Hampton Crawfordville Sept. 6th 1841 Georgia Taliaferro county The justices of the Inferior Court sitting for Ordinary purposes September Term 1841. Present their Honors George Tilley, John Chapman, Silvester V. Luckett, William Evans, Pearce OLeary Personally appeared before us in open court Williamson Hampton and Asbury Ogletree two of the subscribing witnesses to the within will who being sworn depose & say that they saw the Testator William Evans Senr sign seal and heard him acknowledge the within instrument of writing to be his last will and testament and at the time of his so doing he was of sound desposing mind and memory and that they subscribed the same as witnesses in his presence and at his request together with Richard A. Ogletree. sworn to and subscribed in open court this 6th day of Sept 1841. [signed] Asbury Ogletree, Williamson Hampton Attest Aaron G. Stephens C.C.O. Recorded September 10th 1841 A.G. Stephens C.C.O."[3]
